Jakarta – Vice Chairman of the National Campaign Team (TKN) Expert Council, Budiman Sudjatmiko, assessed Prabowo Subianto’s presentation in a dialogue with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) some time ago, showing his consistency in efforts to improve existing inequalities in Indonesia.
Budiman sees Prabowo’s opinion as more than just throwing out the discourse of justice. According to him, Prabowo focuses on efforts to improve inequalities that can be achieved through clear steps.
“Building justice without concrete steps is just a discourse full of ethical nuances. While correcting inequalities, it must be built with logical and rational efforts. Wanting justice without correcting inequalities is impossible, it is the same as omon-omon,” said Budiman to reporters in Jakarta on Sunday (14/1).
Budiman cited the downstream program as a logical and rational effort that Prabowo continues to push for. According to him, downstreaming can be an effective “in-between solution” to address these inequalities.
“In the case of extractive industries and downstreaming, he understands the root of the problem. The inequality of added value between raw material businessmen and the benefits received by the community around mining areas is something that really happens,” he said.
“With downstreaming, raw material businessmen cannot just dig, sell, and send it as they please. The people can also get jobs and other economic benefits thanks to downstreaming, because the material is processed first,” Budiman continued.
The benefits will be even greater if downstreaming is followed by full-scale industrialization.
“If downstreaming is then followed by full-scale industrialization, it will produce high-value products. More people will be helped. More jobs, higher standard of living,” he said.
The effort to improve inequalities through downstreaming, according to Budiman, is evidence that Prabowo is a strategic and visionary leader.
“Pak Prabowo is a strategic and visionary type of leader who always has long-term thoughts and actions. He is not a leader who relies on populism and only makes short-term promises,” Budiman emphasized.
“He is not the type of leader who is only good at arranging words, just rhetoric and omon-omon,” he concluded. (SENOPATI)
