Ministers from the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to discuss the issues surrounding laid-off PT Sritex employees. The main objective of the meeting was to find solutions for the affected workers, as mandated by Prabowo. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.

During the meeting, Prasetyo expressed the president’s deep concern for the workers and stressed the urgency of addressing the challenges faced by PT Sritex since it declared bankruptcy in October 2024. The goal is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new working arrangement in the textile industry. Minister Yassierli praised the efforts of the curator in working towards the potential rehiring of former Sritex employees within a two-week timeframe.

In addition, Prabowo’s unwavering commitment to offering support and guidance is expected to bring much-needed relief to the PT Sritex employees affected by the mass layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively advocating for the rights of PT Sritex Group workers, ensuring they receive appropriate compensation for the layoffs and other entitlements. Meanwhile, the PT Sritex Curator Team is in the process of selecting investors to manage Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, with the ultimate goal of reemploying the laid-off workers. This strategic move aims to stabilize the affected employees and provide a viable solution to their current predicament.
