The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has taken swift action by temporarily suspending the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) due to the discovery of substandard food in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, announced that the affected SPPG units will remain closed until the investigation is completed and the MBG food samples are thoroughly tested in the laboratory. Working with independent institutions, local health, and education departments, BGN is actively investigating the incident and closely monitoring the health of the impacted students. Acknowledging the issue, Redy extended apologies to the students, parents, schools, and all parties affected by the unfit food in the MBG Program. Stressing zero tolerance for negligence in the procurement and distribution of MBG meals, he emphasized the agency’s commitment to the health and safety of all beneficiaries. BGN is collaborating with local government authorities to ensure a swift and effective response on the ground, turning the incident into a valuable lesson for future enhancements. Corrective measures include stringent partner screening, improved hygiene standards, supply chain enhancements, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on expert recommendations. With a focus on meeting food safety standards and maximizing program benefits while maintaining health integrity, BGN reassures the public of its dedication with stakeholder support and vigilance.
