Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga), Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka, urged parents to stay updated on their children’s interests and to promote physical activities together to prevent them from getting addicted to games and gadgets. She emphasized the importance of parents continuously learning and keeping pace with current online applications as children tend to learn quickly. Isyana highlighted the concept of “cheap dopamine” that children seek through social media scrolling or online gaming, which could lead to addiction. Encouraging sports, outdoor activities, and exposure to sunlight were suggested as solutions to counter the negative effects of excessive screen time. On the other hand, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, discussed the RBI program aimed at providing safe and inclusive spaces for women, children, and communities to empower, learn, play, and unleash creativity. Through this initiative, Tan hopes to engage children in traditional games, sports, and creative activities while steering them away from gadget addiction.
