During the official visit of Peruvian President Dina Boluarte, President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto fondly recalled the moment in 2024 when he was honored with the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru—the highest distinction bestowed by the Peruvian government. This memory was shared by Prabowo during a joint press statement at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta. Highlighting the strong diplomatic ties established between the two nations since 1975, Prabowo expressed gratitude for the recognition as a tribute to the entire Indonesian nation.
In return for this prestigious honor, Prabowo presented Boluarte with Indonesia’s highest award, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, in acknowledgment of her significant contributions towards strengthening bilateral friendship and cooperation. Emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration, Prabowo expressed hope for the growth of the partnership between Indonesia and Peru in the future.
Furthermore, both governments sealed cooperation agreements in various areas encompassing narcotics eradication, combatting illicit trade, ensuring food security, advancing mining and energy transition, enhancing fisheries, and bolstering defense efforts. These agreements signify the commitment of Indonesia and Peru to further deepen their ties and foster mutual development.
