President Joko Widodo welcomed Peruvian President Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (11/8). The state ceremony was attended by around 3,000 elementary to high school students from the capital. President Boluarte’s motorcade, accompanied by 17 motorcycle troops and 60 mounted guards, traveled from the National Monument (Monas) to the palace gates. Upon arrival, President Boluarte was warmly greeted by President Joko Widodo and they stood together on the ceremonial podium as the national anthems of both countries were played. They then inspected the honor guard and paid respects to their respective national flags.

President Joko Widodo introduced members of his official delegation including several key ministers. Following this, the two leaders engaged in a bilateral meeting to enhance the relationship between Indonesia and Peru. Peru and Indonesia are both members of APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation), a forum for economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. This meeting comes as a reciprocal gesture following President Joko Widodo’s official visit to Peru last year, highlighting the ongoing diplomatic exchange between the two nations.
