Saimin, an elderly man from Indramayu, West Java, was filled with emotion and pride as he witnessed the lowering of the national flag, the Sang Saka Merah Putih, at Merdeka Palace during Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day commemoration. He expressed his overwhelming joy at being able to see the ceremony in person, stating that he usually watched it on TV at home. Saimin also shared his admiration for President Prabowo Subianto, describing him as a leader who is close to the people and cares for those who are struggling. He noted the president’s hard work, emphasizing how he frequently visits communities and regions, especially those affected by disasters.
During the Independence Day celebration, Saimin voiced his hope for unity among Indonesians, urging everyone to stay united and refrain from internal conflicts. He emphasized the importance of maturity as a nation that has been independent for 80 years. Saimin concluded by expressing gratitude to President Prabowo for the opportunity to attend the palace ceremony.
