Franciscus Sakfiris Pahabolisage and Stincek Laramiapa, two high school students from Papua, were filled with pride and excitement as they participated in Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day celebrations. They were selected to be members of the elite national flag-raising troop, Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka (Paskibraka). Franciscus, representing Papua Pegunungan Province, and a student at SMA Negeri 1 Wamena, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the event alongside President Prabowo Subianto. Stincek, representing Papua Tengah Province from SMA Negeri 1 Nabire, shared her commitment to delivering her best performance and making the country proud during the flag-raising ceremony. Both students went through a rigorous selection process that started at the district level, continued to the provincial stage, and culminated at the national level. Despite facing challenges during physical training, they were thrilled to be part of the Paskibraka team and to meet friends from all 38 provinces during training. The sense of camaraderie and unity among the team members was highlighted by Stincek, who emphasized the importance of working together and supporting each other. As they prepare to raise the national flag on August 17, both students expressed a mix of nerves and excitement at the prospect of meeting the President in person. Their hard work and dedication have earned them this moment, and they are determined to do their best to make the country proud.
